Is there a rule of thumb for what size/volume the sub box has to be for the size of the sub.
ie: 10" sub to suit a 27 to 30 liter box.
Have done a goggle search "sub box size".
Plenty of info.
Did you build your box around the size of the sub or the other way around.

Try this: http://www.termpro.com/articles/buildbox.html
Remember that all subs have a different optimum box. This means the volume and the type of box. Some only suit sealed, some only ported, other can be used in either type.
Do you have a sub that you are trying to determine a size and type of box for? If so give us the brand and model and or the Thiele/Small specs for it and i'll suggest a type and size box that will suit.

Just making a general inquiry into it.
Would like to build a sub box that would fit behind the seat's of a ute, VU/VY/VZ stile cab.
I know that there is a lot of info on this.
No real good pic's or info on the box sizing.
Want to fit 2 x 10" sub's.
One behind each seat.
Just trying to get some info on the best size box and design.

Guessing that this is the best shape suit to the cab.
I'm not going to go the option of the box next to the fuel tank.
Measure the space and work out the available volume. Then, given a budget, we can suggest some subs that will work well in that size box.

OK,
Well that's a good place to start.
theres a sub box calculator somewhere out there. i disagree with the 10 inch in a 27-30 litre box. My sub was designed to run best in a 26 litre box and its 12".
1995 Manual HSV Clubsport
Wade Cam :: 9.2:1 CR :: Pacemaker headers :: Twin 2.5" Exhaust :: VT Brakes
1991 Supercharged VN Berlina
9 PSI SC14 Intercooled :: Genie headers :: Twin cats :: HM Twin 2.25 exhaust :: 3.45:1 LSD
That was a guesstimate, hence the ie![]()
Sorry to throw people off track.
I think looking though some link's 27 to 30 L does a 15"
Its really gonna depend on what sub you get. I think it might be pioneer that makes a sub designed to go well in a small enclosure?
Yep, different brands/models/sizes require different size boxes to work best. Next question.Originally Posted by phree

was that last post aimed at me?? What question were you answering??
No mate. Didn't see yours before i posted.Originally Posted by semi
There certainly are subs that suit small sealed boxes. Boston pro series come to mind, suit 0.5 cuft (14l) sealed boxes from memory and very nice SQ sub.
Cheers.
Here's what it will look like.
Dame open office.
Here wrong format.
try www.ajdesigner.com they have a couple of freeware designer program available for download depending on what type of box your trying to design
Here's another link

This is very small at about 13 litres gross, you will struggle to find a sub that will work to its potential in this. There probably is something though, perhaps a boston G210.Originally Posted by aperfectcircle
This is more forgiving (about 23l gross), this would suit a JLAudio 10w3 or similar. Are you sure it will fit? Its a lot bigger than the other one.Originally Posted by aperfectcircle
Anyway, now that you have found out the rough size of the available box, how much do you want to spend on the driver/s?

That's what i got when I asked-
http://www.tdj.com.au/
just do the deed and go in through the fuel tank enclosure,
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!
Never.
I will never go to the tank side.
chicken.....
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!
Everyone else seems to be happy with the fuel tank idea. Oh well it's good to be different i guess.
Make your own. Bigger, better, badder than everyone else.
27 to 30L for a 15" sub? personally i wouldnt go for anything LESS than 55L for a 15" sub... but then again, im used to dealing with slightly different drivers to the average car sub.Originally Posted by aperfectcircle

Adire Tempest in a 55 - 65L box tuned to low 30's would probably work really well in a car. need to test that one day...![]()
