    Default system cut out

i have a problem with my system in my vt..

im running a kenwood mp3 headunit
    kicker 6x9's
pioneer 6" in the front doors
1x500w xplod amp powering all the speakers
1xextreme monoblock amp running my sub
    1xJL audio 12"

the problem is when i have the system cranked up it lasts about 20 mins before all the speakers cut out and the sub is only working...

could this be because my xplod amp is mounted on the roof of my boot and is overheating?

or is it my rca's are screwed?.....plz help

From your description, i'd say the amp is overheating, especially if it is mounted upside down.

Yeah, it does. The board is on the bottom of the amp because heat rises... If it is upside down all the heat goes up to the board and will cause it to overheat more quickly. Also, the heat is meant to radiate upwards off the heat sink, if it's upside down the heat radiates up back into the amp.

Most amp instructions say not to mount upside down or in the engine bay to excessive heat.

Okay, upside down I can understand, but how many people would actually consider mounting an amp in an engine bay?

If it's overheating, means your actually under powering all your speakers and hits hitting temperature cut off...

sorry, Mat. But there is a reason why you spray paint cars and not install car audio...and there is a reason I don't spray paint cars....You just found it.
