Replacing door speakers in commodore VR?

I just want to know if anyone has replaced the front door speakers in a VR, and if they used the speaker grill covers that come with the speakers, does it leave a space around the speaker from the door trim?

you dont really need to use the grill because the speaker is protected by the kick panel. the extra grilll will only muffle the sound more and why would you want that?
