Hi, can i run a pair of speakers from my head unit before it goes to my amp and powers 2 6x9's. I have included a diagram to show what i mean. Also if this is possible would you wire it in series like in the diagram or parallel??
Don't connect it up like that! Use the outputs from your HU to power the round speakers and use the amp to power the 6x9's.
Don't connect the positive terminal of each speaker to the HU and then the negative terminal to the amp.
No, that won't work...
Does your head unit have RCA's? Use the RCA's to go to the amp and use the normal speaker wires to run the speakers.
Why are you amping the 6x9's? Are they in the front? Or do you sit in the back? You should be making the area where you sit sound the best... If you are the driver, this means making the front speakers sound as good as possible.
Ok, ill tell you waht i have. My head unit has a pair of RCA's and the normal 4 channels of speakers wires. I have a four channel amp and the current setup is (in a vn wagon):
- 2 4" Front speakers running directly from H/U
- Rear channels go to amp (as it has "speaker wire inputs" and RCA inputs) and power 2 6x9's in the rear cargo area
-The RCA's also go to the amp and i have bridged them for a sub.
As you can see everything is taken up as i want to install speakers into the rear doors and am just curious if you can run the new speakers from the headunit before it goes to the amp and powers the 6x9's.
I have included more diagrams so you see what i mean.
Pic 1 is what i have, Pic 2 is what i want to do and ,Pic 3 is my amp
Split your single pair if RCA's into multiple pairs... Don't bother using speaker wire inputs on the amps.
If you're worried about not having any ability to fade because everything will be via one set of RCA's, then get a fader box from Jaycar. One set of RCA in, two sets out and a dial to fade from one to the other.
Cheers, I was thinking that to. I was just curious to see if that was technically possible wiring that way? if anyone could enlighten me. Now i just gotta find out if you can install speakers into the rear doors of VN's. I know the VR's had speakers pods in the front doors but waht about the back doors?? I might have to look into it
Technically it could be possible to do it that way but it would depend entirely on how the amp lowered the signal.
If it simply raised the impedance through the roof to get it to a nice low level...then no. It would not have worked as there would not have been sufficent power to drive the rear door speakers.
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!
