i've just had my stereo and undercar neon kit installed and have now got a hissing noise coming from somewhere when i accelerate. i think it may be coming from the gromit but am unsure, any ideas?

Hissing noise may be from speakers if power cables were ran with speaker wire?? but only if you had extra equipement put in such as an amplifier as nothing should have changed if you just has the head unit changed

Do you mean an electrical hiss, or a mechanical (wind?) hiss?
Gravity is proof that nature keeps getting us down.

Like a vacuum hose or something?

I had a vacuum hose pop off one time and it did that when I accelerated, but it was in the engine bay, not in the dash.

It's not alternator whine through the speakers?

Maybe the undercar neon's are messing with airflow causing a whisle, I remember on a ford I had, above 80kmph the drivers side mirror would have a loud whisle.
But if it happens with accelleration I would have thought alternator whine.
A mate of mine got his new deck installed in his magna, before- no whine, after uncontrollable and seemingly unfixable whine.
I don't use windscreen wipers, i just use the superior handling of the STI to dodge the rain drops.

common cause for engine 'hissing' under acceleration is the purge hose. refer to this thread: my commodore hisses when i accelerate
    did the trick for me.
