    Default Ute speaker setup.

    Tweeter's in the dash.

    Midrange in the door's.

    Subwoofer's behind the seat's.

No other speaker's required, are there?
Should I change the midrange for splits.

the mids are part of a split set up arent they?
im pretty sure splits will be better than a coaxial speaker, youl get a better audio image if the tweeters are closer to you ears and pointing at you.

when you buy splits you get your tweeter, a woofer and a crossover for both sides in the package.
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!

sorry mate im not quite sure what your trying to ask.
A set of splits will come with two cross overs: one for each side ,
one crossover = one woofer(mid)+ one tweeter, the amps send the signal to the crossovers and then to the speakers. you would need: 1x 2 channel amp to run the front speakers (be they coaxials, splits, 3 ways or what ever). then use either a mono block amp or a nice big 4 channel amp to run your 2 subs.

So whats wrong with my second setup?

    Component and sub setup.
Just think that the single line represents a pair core wire.

aperfectcircle, thats ideally how you want it.

boona15, ideally you want a SINGLE crossover for a woofer and a tweeter. This requires only one channel for each side and the split is more refined.

What else would I have to add to make it cover the range of the music spectrum?

    Got
    -Tweeters
    -Midrange
    -Sub's

    Would woofer's be required?

nothing, that should be fine. Just bear in mind the sub size. You don't want to go a 15" when the next bigger speaker in the car is 6" Ideally I would suggest a pair of 10s. Since you insist on putting them in the cab you are going to be hard pressed for space and volumic capacity for each enclosure. So 10's would be a suitable size from a 6 and also space wise.

Good luck with making theem fit and work well.
