Howdy.. I just noticed this earlier tonight when I was washing the VS..
I had the antenna totally down (it's not electric) while i was washing, which is why i probably noticed it more.
When the car was just switched to accessory, to have the radio on, it all sounded fine, reception was good. When I turned the car on to drive off (antenna still down) the reception went totally to crap. Is this a sign of bad earthing? It's just the stock HU (will be changed in a week or so).
If it's just the way it is, that's cool, but it would be nice to know if it's something I could easily fix.

No, it would most likely be a sign of interference from the electronics running the engine. Does it work fine with the antenna up?
I'd say it's just because with it down you're getting a weaker signal, so the electrical noise from the engine running is more apparent.
Yeah it was better with the antenna up, not as good as down with the engine off though.
If that's just how it is.. no worries at all, just wondering if there was an easy fix (ie tracing earth wire and re-earthing a bit better)

Theyre all the same, I had a Magna and the reception was great, then I got my Commie and in the same places it was shit.
So I replaced it with an electric one![]()

The electric one gets better reception?

Yup, its bigger!
Probably less rusted too, those original ones are cheap.
