You may not have thought it, but sometimes the cheaper options can be good!
I got 6.5" blaupunkt splits recently, latest model, for $50 brand new - they sound as good as if not better and louder than my mates Alpine S type 6.5" splits.
Im running a 1000w 4ch Boss amp to the splits and to my last model 12" Sony Xplod
The 6x9's in the back which came with the car are thrashed out Sony Xplod two ways..
Alpine CDA 9826 - fairly standard head unit that does more then you would expect.
This relatively stingy system hurts my ears after a short while, is crisp as (something crisp) with no distortion at loud levels..
just goes to show you dont need to spend big dollars for great sound. By all means do it if you want, but if your looking for something that sounds good and doesnt murder your wallet, dont be afraid of the smaller brands..
system sound the goods man, I have also got a VN wagon!! and am doing a sound install. Currently working on getting some 6" splits in the front doors aswell. I gotta get all the spacers and everything. Would you mind posting pictures of your sound install as i really wanna get some ideas for mine. Cheers mate. GO THE VN WAGONS!!!!
Need no worry, i have just seen it on the Rides section, very nice.Just a question doesnt the front door speaker obstruct the window? I am currently working on doing this and i thought spacers were needed. Also nice to see the manual like mine aswell. cheers
P.S What are the 2 lights/switches? down near ther gearstick?
first car stereo eh Brent?
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!
actually i spose this counts as my second system because of what the car originally came with - old model blaupunkt splits - neither of the tweeters worked (i actually put all the power to one once and saw it smoke haha) some sony tape deck head unit and the 6x9s that are still in there but they werent wired properly.
so i suppose you could say this is my second system. i will do it up slowly but now that ive got loud crisp sound im more keen to work on the visuals and performance aspects of the car. in time i will replace the 6x9s and upgrade the subs/amps for sure, but not just yet
and mate the switches are:
one for my ps2 because i have it connected up to a little box that seperates the power from the battery to the sony when the switch is off, to reduce fire risk
and the other is for the in car neons![]()
i know what 12v is hinting at, i went from my stock unit to a cheap pioneer headunit and rear 3way 6.5"ers and thought it was great [ hey it's enough to make the mirror vibrate! ] then i jump in my mates car who's got a 12" box-o-doof [pardon the childlike description] and then after a while enjoying what felt like getting my back kicked in i find mine way too tinny and quiet.
the point is while it sounds great and with that right touch of tuning will squeeze the last bit of auidable goodness out of it the fact is its only a basic system at heart, a few dollars here, replace that there and it might be 100% better. im not knocking your setup, dont get me wrong but the theroy is once you sample something higher it just doesnt feel right going back.
attn Über geeks, i play Second life. Patrio Graysmark.
