    Default head unit problems in vl

    just wired a sound system with my mate who owns a vl and we have used the standard power wires for the head unit but when we turn the headlights on everything shuts down, without headlights if we turn the music right up it turns itself off and then on again
    ne one with ne sorta advice muchly appreciated

    Not sure about the headlight prob but did you use the earth wire from the stock HU? If you did you need to earth the new HU directly to the chassis.. this will fix the turning on/off prob when you crank it.

    run a new feed, sometimes earthing or too much draw may cause a interference with your lights im guessing there on the same circuit or someting is touching. Try a new feed and ground point that may help you

    thanx we end up disconnecting the cigarette lighter and runnin the active and earth of of that so the whole time the two probs were caused by a bad earth thanx for ur help

    yes, you could say it was a bad earth.. the earth issue being the fact that it was actually an llumination wire. When you switched on your headlights the earth wire suddenly became an active 12Volts wire
    You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!
