holden vz into older monaro/tonner

as with all new cars teh sterio is well crap so i will replace the one in the vy ute i am buying and i was wondering if u have it around could u anyway hook it up to a older monaro or one tonner has cd radio and all good lil system i think for an older car and could u wire it up so that u can have ur mobile come trough like they do or is this all governed by the computer chip ? any help thanks agro

Sound's like he wants to put VY H/U in a older car (as it's ok for a older car).
Then to keep the features of the VY H/U in the older car (Moblie phone muting system).

Can it be done?
I would think so, not to sure if the car computer deals with the muting of the audio when a call comes in.

yes, it can be done. you will need to input the stereo code into the radio so ensure that you get it when you get the VY.

Mounting it wil be an issue.

i have a feeling that the head unit will be the large to fit in the space of the original radio in the older holden...would i be correct?

very correct but not if i am doing a total rebuild of the dash which is the plan i know an after market one would be better but i figure if u get the sterio from my new ute an do teh low level output so it like the sedan sterio with rear speakers i can hook t 6 x 9 to that my door speakers and tweeters it would make for a nice sterio for my tonner
