Hello all, I'm new to this forum, not sure if this is the right sub forum to post in..
Last night me and a mate fitted an aftermarket head unit in, did all the wiring.. it all works fine.. But now the Aircon/Heater system is all buggered up..
When we were putting the Aircon thing next to the head unit back in we realized a rod attached to the temperature knob wasn't hooked up to anything (the end of the rod looked like it has a spring attached to it) and we couldn't find out where it went so we had to leave it out (now it wont turn at all)... Also the knob to switch vents (from windscreen to feet to face etc...) turns but stays on the feet....
Also another worrying issue is last night when i was driving around I heard a slight hissing noise, which sounded similar to a gas leak sound (not saying I is, it's most likely the A/C) which is abnormal for my car.. The sound was emitting from the area where the A/C unit resides....
PS: it's a VS Executive...
Thanks in advance..
I think i know what your saying, but i have a VN, so its a bit different. I had heater/aircon disconnected for a few days, and when i drove around there was constant hissing. Try to get a modertor to move his thread to car audio, you'll get more of a response there...
ok, you probably removed the aircon unit to get the old stereo out yes? so, theres a vaccuum plug that goes in the back of the unit with the knobs, its black and only fits one way, that will stop the hissing, and the rod, hooks to a white lever thing that opens the heater and stuff. when the ac is full on cold, the lever is pulled towards back of car and has to push a little valve thing, when on hot, it pushes towards front of car.
hope that helps
Yes i think that helps, if you're right that is... i'll find out 2moro when i pull it apart ! thanks...
Yep it'll be the heater rod... it's a pain to get in... have to do a bit of digging around in the footwell.
Driving a CURSED WH V6.
Heater Rod & Servo hoses.. Common mistake for a n00b :P done this a few times when i first started out modifying the VN. Its actually the Vaccum hose that makes the hissing noise.. put your finger over the holes and you will notice a vaccum.. connect this back up emmediatly as you dont want any dust/crap up in the hoses. You wont loose any gas by the way, those hoses control the valves/doors for which direction the air goes.
