Hi, Ive just put a new stereo in my car and im getting a loud popping sound when i crank it. Is this a speaker/amp/head unit problem??
Stereo fitted: Pair of alpine 200w splits running off a 200wrms jaycar amp. Head unit is stock blaupunkt 6 stack with phreddys low level outputs.
Not sure exactly what model the speakers but they are the ones with the plain blue cone, their a few years old.
All this in vz ute.
Thanks
i would check all your wiring and still if you cant fix it by that try turning the bass dow-does this make a difference?
I’d say it’s your wiring, make sure your joints are connected with soldering wire then wrapped around with electrical tape. If that doesn't work it could be faulty speakers

Hey kmbattle.
This is gonna happen if the unit is running when you turn the key to "Start" when running my low level outs (like if running on "Acc" or the on-button override). I tried for ages to eliminate it, but couldn't. The only recommendation I can make is to de-activte the H/U (ie. Turn the key to "Off" or hit the "Off" button) before you start. Turning the key quickly through "Acc-On" doesn't allow things to fully power up before hitting "Start", and the downward spike in battery voltage when the starter DOES crank over.
(that's causing a low voltage spike through whatever is connected to the battery - the H/U, the amp, and even the buffer board installed in your unit)
BTW - how are you going with the Aux socket? If you need that test cable just let me know. I'll shoot you an e-mail anyhow.

Cheers phreddy ill have a go at that.
Still havnt fixed aux problem, but as far as i can see all the wiring on the socket is good.
Installer told me he had the unit apart to have a look, is it likely he could have knocked a wire off?? If so this wouldnt be too hard to repair would it?
Ill take it in this week.
Thanks
Hmmmm - that is possible, but not likely. (didn't get to the e-mail - sorry Bloke!)
Keep me posted Mate, I'll make sure it's set right for you.
