you would probably get better value out of upgrading your HU unless you dont want to for aesthetics or something

yeah the speakers will be 6 inch, (6.5inch will fit them no worries) and the subs are 8 inch cos thats wat the calais has, if u want to keep the dash lookin stocku could get a boot stacker with a mini display thing that u stick in the glovebox or where ever, (dunno where they r though, only ever seen one we had in our old car), hope that helps or gives u ideas.
Need some parts for my VH 253:
Green standard steering wheel...Green lower B-pillar covers.
Green sunglasses holder/lower dash bits...Air-con and assorted engine bay parts.
    PM with any info.

it depends on the 6.5 inch speakers and the basket size. i couldnt fit my alpines in the stock pods and then the custom mdf pods i made for the alpines wouldnt fit the nakas. the alpines and nakas were both ment to be 6.5 inch but the alpines were a smaller 6.5 inch with a smaller basket and the nakas were a bigger 6.5 inch with a very large basket.
also another problem is that because of the angle the stock pods are they will sometimes make the magnet hit the metal door inner skin.
there is no way someone can predict if a speaker will be ok unless they have installed that specific speaker.

its not just the depth but the actual shape of the basket side on... what i was trying to make clear is there is no real way to say if it will fit. the worst case senario is that you need to make different custom mdf spacers. best case is that the speakers fit well with not too much cutting on the stock plastic pod (the plastic pods sound cap tho...).

No offense mate but it's not really that tidy... you need some kind of bezel around it to tidy it up...

no offence taken but my under standing of the word bezel is: a sloping edge on a cutting tool.

the only problem with the international is it has an extra surround the grey bit. So i see what you both are talking about, the picture dont do it justice.
as for more pictures front and rear speaker are in factory places and sub box is put in this coming tuesday. then i can post a picture of the sub box.

well iam a slack ass so i put my cars in the hands of a friend, who works as an installer at autobarn, as for getting the tweeters out i think when you open the door a look at the side of the dash you'll see some screws in the panels undo those and should all pop out. for the picture side of things, my amp for subs has turn up so the car goes in on tuesday to have the sub box installed, then i'll give it wash and clean then take some pictures

i know in my old VT that it had split wires from just under the dash near the plug that goes into the kick panel.

i'll just cut em off and run the new crossovers which i get with the splits and run em from the 6" splits is the best way i think
