Hi guys,
just after some help i'm looking at upgrading the speakers in my WH by can someone help me out with the specs of the original speakers so i get the right size, what i need is the size of the splits, tweeters subs etc.. Also how do i remove he tweeters from the dash?? One last question I want to change the small amp in the boot for the subs on the parcel shelf does anybody know the colour codes of the wires to stock amp so i can hook up a bigger one??
Thanx heaps guys
Paul
i think all the door speakers are 6"(including the splits) and the subs are 8"....not sure on the subs tho
thanx champ i'm looking at some 6 1/2 splits for the front approx 8cm deep do you think they will go in??
cant say for sure, but i think they might fit, head over to www.caraudioaustralia.com
they have heaps of helpful stuff there, and also they should be able to help u out a bit more
Nick
you would probably get better value out of upgrading your HU unless you dont want to for aesthetics or something
yea upgrading the HU is the best idea but i dont like the look of it i want to keep it looking original i rekon a good set of speakers bigger rear amp and good quality subs will sound pretty good thats why i'm after all the specs
cheers
yeah the speakers will be 6 inch, (6.5inch will fit them no worries) and the subs are 8 inch cos thats wat the calais has, if u want to keep the dash lookin stocku could get a boot stacker with a mini display thing that u stick in the glovebox or where ever, (dunno where they r though, only ever seen one we had in our old car), hope that helps or gives u ideas.
Need some parts for my VH 253:
Green standard steering wheel...Green lower B-pillar covers.
Green sunglasses holder/lower dash bits...Air-con and assorted engine bay parts.
PM with any info.
it depends on the 6.5 inch speakers and the basket size. i couldnt fit my alpines in the stock pods and then the custom mdf pods i made for the alpines wouldnt fit the nakas. the alpines and nakas were both ment to be 6.5 inch but the alpines were a smaller 6.5 inch with a smaller basket and the nakas were a bigger 6.5 inch with a very large basket.
also another problem is that because of the angle the stock pods are they will sometimes make the magnet hit the metal door inner skin.
there is no way someone can predict if a speaker will be ok unless they have installed that specific speaker.
well the speakers i'm after the basket i think is 8cm deep you think they will fit?
its not just the depth but the actual shape of the basket side on... what i was trying to make clear is there is no real way to say if it will fit. the worst case senario is that you need to make different custom mdf spacers. best case is that the speakers fit well with not too much cutting on the stock plastic pod (the plastic pods sound cap tho...).
but changing the hu it can still look factoryOriginally Posted by bruzza

No offense mate but it's not really that tidy... you need some kind of bezel around it to tidy it up...
Driving a CURSED WH V6.
no offence taken but my under standing of the word bezel is: a sloping edge on a cutting tool.Originally Posted by mattman

yes exactly...... as that dictionary site said: bezel=a flange designed to hold.......... i think you just wrecked yourself.... that small gap doesn't bother me though. the h/u goes with the car, good choice. can i see some more pics?
the only problem with the international is it has an extra surround the grey bit. So i see what you both are talking about, the picture dont do it justice.
as for more pictures front and rear speaker are in factory places and sub box is put in this coming tuesday. then i can post a picture of the sub box.
nah sorry, didnt make myself clear enough... just some pics of the inside and doors ect... just for a perv![]()
post as many pics as you can and give advise on anything regarding the wh as not many ppl around modify them.Originally Posted by wgs150
does anybody know how to get the tweeters out? or know the wiring code for the rear amp?
ps you dash looks good and has got me thinkin
well iam a slack ass so i put my cars in the hands of a friend, who works as an installer at autobarn, as for getting the tweeters out i think when you open the door a look at the side of the dash you'll see some screws in the panels undo those and should all pop out. for the picture side of things, my amp for subs has turn up so the car goes in on tuesday to have the sub box installed, then i'll give it wash and clean then take some pictures
just on tweeter do you know if they have crossovers from the splits or is there an internal crossover in the deck? meaning an extra set of wires from the deck?? cheers
i know in my old VT that it had split wires from just under the dash near the plug that goes into the kick panel.
i'll just cut em off and run the new crossovers which i get with the splits and run em from the 6" splits is the best way i think
here are the pciture i said would take. sorry the subs pictures were taken tonight.
now time to lower it and new mags.
very nice car.
looks good even on stock ride height
but why would ya want new mags those are good
they off my ute and i want put chrome 20's on
lookin good!
ok so i finally decided to to take the stock radio out but i cant find the holes on the side to pull it out, do i have to remove the centre facia? if so how?
