cutting out(different to other thread)!!!!

hey all, this is my setup, wich has a problem- 2 10" sony 1100W subs(sealed box) sony 6x9s and sony splits, all powered by one 1000W sony amp for the subs) and a 800W amp for the 6's and splits. both amps are 4 channel. when i crank the system, and there is heaps of bass, it cuts out the other amp and speakers. in other words the amp is stealing all the other amps power, resulting with just my subs working. how ever, when i start the car, the system works fine......for a while. thats when every few minutes my whole system keeps cutting out. when i checked my amps, they were so hot you could cook breakfast on them!!!!! i have checked all my wiring, and its all fine. also, my head unit began to go really dodgy, and the display screws up. i dont understand how my amps are overheating??? they are set up on the "wall of the boot" were the back seats are., and it was done proffesionally. would it be the HU and amps that are faulty??? and is any of it normal to happen??? thanks.

It sounds like the speaker amp is cutting out due to too much heat or voltage drop. Probably heat from what you've said about them being very hot. Excessive heat is caused when the amp flows alot of current, this is usually from running for long periods or because the amp is running the wrong impedence speakers or is shorting out.

You need a multimeter to test the voltage when the problem occurs and to disconnect each speaker wire from the amp and check the resistance.

Most of the time this problem will be caused to faulty wiring or the listener running the equipment too hard.
