i have a VT Spac...
I am about to put into the car,
a mid range pioneer head unit.
220W Pioneer 6" splits - front doors,
400W Sony 4 way 6x9's on the parcel shielf
1000W Pioneer 12" sub in da boot
and a 600W 4 channel Amp...
With all this do you think that by putting 150w-200W 6's in the back doors will make a difference or do you think they would not be heard because of the other gear?
Cheers

Personally, i'd put the 6" in the rear doors and totally leave the 6x9's out... People use 6x9's to give bass, if you have subs you have bass and don't need 6x9's. They just take up space where the bass could be coming through from the boot.
What about putting 6's in the parcel shelf and the doors?
Would that make a difference?
I've just put a pair of Cadence 80W rms 6.5" splits in front & a pair of 80W rms Kenwood 7x10" 3ways in the shelf in my VT. I am using a 4 x 80W rms amp with the above speakers but I have an aditional 200W rms sub output on the same AMP that I will try to use in the future while I High Pass the shelf
I am in Ringwood VIC & if you would like to hear what the install sounds like let me know.

There's no point having 6 speakers... To do it properly they should all be amped so that means an extra amp, and it will be only slightly louder and have too much sound from behind you when you should be concentrating on having your sound in front of you. You're much better off spending that extra money on better front speakers that can sound better and/or play louderOriginally Posted by TigerVX

Is it best to have the rear speakers (if only having two) in the parcel shelf or in the rear doors for sound quality etc?
For who? The rear passengers or the front passenger/driver?
For the rear passengers having speakers in the doors would be best as they're set up like the front speakers for the front passenger/driver. The sound will be coming from in front of them rather than next to/behind their heads.
For the front passenger/driver it doesn't really matter, it is just going to sound like sound coming from behind either way.
hey iam about to install my sound system into my vt and i currently have my fusion shallow mount 6" and 6.5" 3 ways from my other car. and i was wondering if they would fit into my original speaker holes with out cutting or door pods cause i dont want to wreck the interior.
btw any one know were i can get a head unit adaptor for the standard wiring to my alpine unit. thanks
yes u can fit the 6 and 6.5 inch speakers behind the grill in the door, you just cut the bach off the plastic factory mount (you'll see it behind the door trim) and they slot right in.
as for the wiring adaptor a company called TDJ Australia make one, dont know how much, ph: (03) 9555 9066 or www.tdj.com.au
I'm pretty sure Aerpro also makes them, they make Pioneer and Clarion AFAIK. Autobarn stores will stock them, if they do.
hey i was just wondering how do i get those stupid speaker grills off the door in my VT, so i can install my speakers do i have to take the whole door panel off? cause i feels like it has a finger grip on the corner but i cant pull it up and i dont want to incase its not meant to come off like that. and i need to know about the rear doors to.
The whole door trim has to come off. Same for the back doors.
i say rip it all out and go Alpine X-Type gear lol but yeah I'd put the 6's in and pull the 6x9's out cuz there no good considering you've already got subs...

leave the 6x9's, they wont cause any anything bad and why ditch them and spend even more on some 6inchers when the 6x9's do the job?
if you want to do something good change the front speakers to something very nice, you will notice the change the most (not alpine type X though).
