hey all first of all id like to apologise for posting this thread but i need urgent help i know this is a 'just commodores' forum .. and i might be pushing it asking this question in here. But my sister just got her p's and her first car which is a 98 hyandai excel and she wants a new stereo put it in , hooray for me , i get the job !.. but i just dont know the standard excel wire colours, so when i put her new headunit in , i done wire by wire from what the old headunit was connected to.. i have power to my headunit ( thats easy enuff ) but no sound , from what i have seen so far is all good, my speaker wires are connected properly but just no sound , i notice a 'amp remote' wire and read somewhere that u have to hook that up and bypass something ? i am still unsure and she is kinda spewin i spent all this time pulling her car apart and tryin to get it to work for her,but couldnt :b: any help would be great , if someone out there knows the original wiring codes/colours for a 98 excel , or can give some advice on this blue remote amp wire ? i have the speakers hooked up , the power lead and memory, and also the earth but no sound damn excels it needs to be a commodore.
once again im sorry for posting a question about 'hyandai' in this forum .. but ive searched the net everywhere and cant find any help ! its got nothing on the vk haha anyway thanks in advance and hope someone can help me would be greatly appreciated !
Cheers

This is for a 98 Hyundai Accent which is the American version of an Excel. Be thankful I was updating my database and had this close at hand. Generally I can't be ****ed going to look for them

I'm amazed Power21 is still a member after that brainfade. If I said that to my wife I'd be searching for the 2 star hotel in the garage, let alone saying it to a moderator!!Originally Posted by 12Voltking

FECK!!!
I just did a Excel job 2 weeks ago... the GF's car of course
12volt beat me to it, but just some clarification on wire colours, I had different ones to what he's stated, although they are very similar between some models.
Check the picture for the wiring schematic on the Excel I did (1997 model). That's the most correct one for the majority of Excels in Australia apparantly. It might still be the same for the 1998 model although there might be suttle differences perhaps. But with the 1998 models onwards, I don't have that diagram on hand yet but if you want that, just PM me if the schematic I've supplied looks wrong to what you got in the car.

Oh yeah...
The two front speakers on the Excel I worked on had same coloured wires!
The diagram supplied is correct so if you see a Brown with Black/White or Brown/Red with Black/White or whatever combination of those, turns out that the RH speaker had the same as the LH speaker but testing it showed it had continuity to the White/Red and Black/Red wire at the HU end.
If it turns out it's exactly the diagram, then even better, saves confusion. But if there's still confusion on the wires, PM me.
He is still a member but he just can't post until a moderator approves his post for good tasteOriginally Posted by Demons1964
