Default Vt Parcel Shelf Speaker Grills

    Hi
I have a VT without rear speakers, i went to holden and purchased the factory speaker grills.

The parcel shelf has an outline of where the grills fit but no holes or slots for them.

Does anyone know how to fit the grills.

    Thanks Trev

    Hiya Trev.

Well, when I did mine - in both the ol' VT and in my VZ, I used a jigsaw (after I'd given it a VERY good clean-up and fitted a nice new blade) to cut around the opening but not along the line moulded in - if you do, the grille will fall straight through! Try to cut about 5-6mm inside that outline, then where the tabs on the steel grille are, just stitch-drill with about a 2.5mm bit to create a slot in the recessed outline. Poke the tab through there and fold it down nice and tight, plus I mixed up some epoxy glue and blobbed a bit of that around there as well to hold them nice and firm. Voila!

Oh, maybe I should mention that I cut from the inside of the trim panel to minimise the "furry edge" left around the hole. Makes the jigsaw a little harder to stabilise though.

    Cheerz, hope it helps.

one other note is to cut the carpet off inside the hole first, that way it won't catch a jigsaw and tear the lot off.
take note of how you lay out the little tabs and take your time , its not too hard but can get stuffed up easy

    Amen to that!

(good suggestion about the carpet stuff too.... That was why I made the cut from inside, so that the blade would actually shear the carpet at the cut line, rather than trying to tear it off)
