Hey guys, ive had my car for about 1 month, and since i was bombarded with bills at the same time, i havent had much money lately...My car has original tape deck and i couldnt afford a new cd unit, so i bought my mates old one for $50.
Its a pioneer DEH-1350, my question is, what does the 45x4 on the frnt mean?
I saw my sisters one in her car and hers is 50x4, and it sounds pretty good for stock speakers.
Thanx
It means that the power output to each speaker (4 being the four speakers) is claimed to be 45 watts. Keep in mind that these are MAX power outputs, in reality you'd be looking at something that's around 15-20Wrms, and that's the number that really matters.
Gravity is proof that nature keeps getting us down.
Yeah the 50x4 systems with MOSFET are generally about 23-24RMS...for Pioneer atleast. So thats the power that it sends to your speakers. Thats why alot of people purchase an amp with new speakers....because speakers that are rated at 85RMS like my front 4 inch, can handle that much power...so if you have just 23rms from the cd player it wont be anywhere near as loud (or good) as what it could be potentially.
thanx guys, so will this 1 sound alright in my vs?
yes it will, most replacement headunits sound ok with the stock speakers, that or get some 3-way or splits for the front and some 6 or 6.5 two/threeways for the rear or a set of 6x9's.
also check over your car stereo shop [ jb or strathfeild etc ] to get a stock loom into freewire plug so that you can solder it to the headunits wires and keep the stock wires of car.
[ in english, yeah will sound ok, might distort, get a carplug -> loose wire adaptor.
attn Über geeks, i play Second life. Patrio Graysmark.
Big thumps up to your mates.
