Default Sony IP-Bus Aux Input Adapter

Hey all... on eBay a few months ago I saw a nice little adapter cable that plugs into Sony head units IP-Bus connector (intended for connection to CD stackers) to allow connection of other audio devices such as MP3 player, carpc, etc. I can NOT for the life of me find these again however!! If anyone knows where I can get one of these, I would be eternally gratetful.

Pioneer uses "IP-BUS". Sony appears to use "Unlink Bus". Maybe you're searching for the wrong thing.

*w00t* it appears that you are right. When I saw these listed on eBay they were referred to as IP-BUS even the sony ones so I assumed it was called that. It appears I might not even need an adapter to use line in. My head unit has aux inputs in RCA form but I assumed it would need something on the unilink connector to cause it to be selectable as when I press source, aux is never an option. Perhaps I can just connect RCAs and it will detect those? I'll have to go try it now hehe.

i dnt know about automtic detection with RCA's suddenly allowing the option on a headunit.....on the pioneer ones, you have to enable the AUX function in inital settings (like where you set the clock, display brightness etc etc etc) i dont have a sony HU, but im sure it would be much the same setup, just not sure how you access the inital setting on those units.....

but, however you set your clock, i assume it would be in that list of options as well....

car audio are a fair way off detection of objects with RCA's. Only newer units such as ipods provide this.

After trying this you are exactly right. My head unit does not detect automatically, but nor is the aux input enabled in the h.u. settings. I have checked this very thoroughly. It seems that you definitely need a connection on the unilink bus to enable it. This is a BIG pain. It looks like I'll have to buy something sony call "auxillary input for unilink receivers". Model number is XA 300. Luckily its not expensive, but I can't find anywhere in Australia to buy the damn thing.

What Sony headunit do you have? It may have to be enabled with the headunit switched off.

I have a CDX-R5610 and aux enable doesnt show up in the menu even when HU is off. I might have to contact Sony and find out where I can buy an XA 300 in Australia.

The CDXR5610 does need the Aux input adapter. Last tine I checked, the adapter was around $199. May be a better option to pick up one of the new '06 range, as they share the same block plug as the CDXR5610
