I'm about to purchase a second hand VT wagon as a replacement for my VN, which just died. Now I have a system of two four inch, 2 6x9 and a single Pioneer head unit. Is there an installation guide somewhere for a VT that I can use? I'd also like to install my small amp and the extra pair of 6 inch speakers I have, any advice regarding those would be most appreciated. In particular I would like some advice on where to place the 6x9s, as in the VN I had them in the rear wall speaker provision, and the sound from them was sub par.
I have my 6x9's in the rear wall speaker provision and they sound fine. Mine are pretty powerful so you shouldnt have a problem. Also buy yourself a grill for it from somewhere like alberts so any would be thiefs cant see what youre running![]()
VT takes 6" speakers as standard, so dispose of the 4's and get some 6" or 6.5" (will require minor modifications).
If you read alot of other threads you'll see that it's not recommended to have 6x9's with a sub as there is no point. The sub makes the bass, so you don't need the 6x9's. But since you have them you might aswell use them unless you're going to have to do modifications to fit them.
All the top end sound quality cars and SPL car use round speakers, not oval as they're not very good.
I don't have, nor plan to use a subwoofer, I don't listen to anything that requires a dedicated low frequency driver, I would also lose valuable boot space. Most rock is mainly midrange, hence 5 way 6x9s and smaller (4 to 6 inch) high frequency drivers work great. Then again, I'm a sound engineer who works with PA systems, and car audio is an entirely different beast. What I'm looking for is an agreed "Ideal" mounting position for a pair of 6x9s, and information on how to install this, I've only ever done a pair of VNs, so details on any differences between mounting in a VN and mounting in a VT would be appreciated.
in a vt the 6x9s are mounted under the parsal shelf, not on top as in a Vn-vs.
mount the 6x9s on the rear parsal shelf. there are holes (or an indend of where they will go once you have cut a hole) for them to go.
Wagon mate, no parcel shelf to mount it on.Originally Posted by garfa

personally i would build some fiberglass pods and mount them on the side boards but you probably already know that so i will just shut up now.![]()
