Hey all
Me and a mate had to install a sound system in me mates VY commodore ute today.
Everythign went well apart from the sub box doesnt fit behind the seat.
Any ideas of where we could put the sub or any plans for a smaller sub box that fits behind the seats or any info in general to hewlp us mount the sub some where.
Thanks
Do a search, that will help.
under the tray. There is a space next to the fuel tank that can accomodate a custom made box. I fitted a 12" pioneer with just enough volume in the box to meet the specs. Otherwise a slim fit sub will work but a lot more expensive.
Well.........
You can do what I did and get rid of the box and mount the sub behind the seat (yeah I know, no box.. no baffle and sound reproduction isn't as good... blah blah blah 5hit... IT WORKS WELL FOR ME!)
You could sell the sub and buy one of those thin Pioneer subs... can't say how good they are, haven't really tried them but I'm sure other people can recommend it or not perhaps..
Or just shave off a dimension on the box, make it thinner. It ain't that hard! Just saw off the amount you need off to fit it behind the seat and seal it up again with some nails and wood glue.
What.. you think that the original box design for the sub is the perfect size for it to reproduce sound correctly in the first place? Even a sub without a box can do the same job, if not, better in some instances.
The choice is yours.
Double post... soz
i fitted a low depth pioneer sub into a custom box under the tray of my vy ute, its awsum, sound is great and its hidden!
jokes..ahahaha i get jokes
