    Default should i attack JBL???

i posted questions regarding wire sizing as i read this in the manual provided with the amp (JBL GTO 755.6 Series 2)

the common respose, as it is well documented in other places about the safe current carrying capacity of certain gauge wires.... and yet, here is JBL saying in their manual, its ok to use 8AWG wire, with an amp that @ max draws 87A.

    AND..

it has no recommendation for fuse size from battery to amp. I just expected more from such a well respected brand.

Using a run of 7 to 10 feet I guess it would be possible to do that. but personally I wouldn't use that as a guide. Most manufacturers guides to cable sizes that I've come across tend to be on the small side.

87A is the maximum current draw from the amp which would only happen if you played a sine wave just on clipping. Music would be lucky to cause half of that current draw unless playing constant bass (like d'n'b). It's just safer to go larger wire as people are stupid.

    ok.. will do!
not quite to the extent of 0AWG, but yeh, 4 will do!
i'll throw in an 80amp fuse then.... i wont be running it @ max... cheers StoneX, sorry if i seem to be "attacking" you in other replies, i just seem to understnd some things differently. But i do appreciate the feedback and information supplied.

Im running the GTO 75.4ii and the GTO 601.1 on 4 gauge from battery to cap then 4 gauge again to amps , been over a year now no problems at all , apart from that you will be suprised at the JBL amps as i wouldnt change them for any brand ( thats my opinion ) love em

Others may think different, IMHO... if u got a high drawing unit such as an amp or inverter... go larger in cable gauge, obviously within some reason tho... maybe overkill of 10-20 amps (larger cable) of factory say-so with a fuse as low as u can go (without blowing) will protect ya gear pretty well

doesnt it say a 7-10' run? and would the fuse value be a bit higher than the max current draw?
