Well over the last 2 years I've been putting all my silver coins into a box and just leaving them there. Counted yesterday, and clocked up a cool $160. The idea is to spend it on something worthwhile and show that silvers are worth something.
Anyhow, my front right speaker has gone, and I'm in the market for a new pair of splits. I have no amp, so it'll be running straight from the head unit.
Question 1.. can I just cut the speaker wire from the old speakers and hook up the new ones?
Question 2.. I need recommendations of decent splits to get for my front end. In the vicinity of $160 - $250.. so yeah feel free to post away =)
in that price range i would go for some Alpine Type S Splits. They have a nice clean crisp sound.
Q1= yes you can
Q2= i am using type R splits and they were $200, great sound from them
In that price range, check out the jaycar kevlar splits. Listen to as many sets in your price range as you can, use your music.
JVC
Focal
JL Audio
VDO Dayton
Jaycar
Dynamat Extreme/Dynaxorb
i use pioneer bullet 6.5" very good speaker should be in ur price range

Yeah I'd like to know where from too ?
i think he means JB and sometimes strathfield. ebay aswell prob.
also importing is a good way to get very expensive speakers much much cheaper than if bought in australia.
nah i got my splits from car audio excellence at penrith
also if buying from any store with discounted stock which you dont know the quality of wonder why the hell it needs to be discounted to sell? new model out? or is it a crap model?
My splits in the front of my rolla are Pioneer (poly cone) and were 244ish from JB HIFI. Just asked what the absolute best deal they could do was and the price was dropped heaps.
I run them off a 4 channel amp with JL Audio 6 X 9's and it sounds awesome.
when you have a GP (gross profit) figure of 250% then ****'en oath you can drop the price a bit!Originally Posted by stahlzy

TEAM CLOWN RACING
set of focals.. MMMmmmm prob not for that price though
My personal opinion would be to save up a little bit more money (around the $300-$350 mark) and get yourself a set of Hertz hsk's. They are INCREDIBLE for the price range, and will put many speakers double their price to shame. I got my friend a set for his car and anyone who has heard them have wanted to get a set for themselves, and after they got them, were either after more sets for themselves or for their friends..(granted i was getting them at wholesale price ay one point)
Trust me, i felt a bit ashamed of my focal utopia 3 ways after hearing this set, and promptly bought two sets of Hertz hsk's for my other carYou wont be dissapointed....
focal's possibly yeah if you can find some in the price range, Dynaaudio apparently make some good sound quality splits also... Personally i'm running Pioneer TS-C160R's so top of the line pioneers available, but that was a decision based on a good price. Truth be told you'll find better sound quality away from the mainstream brands only problem is it often comes with a price. Like for example top of the line Rainbow splits, which come with a price tag exceeding $10,000 :P.
