How do i take the treble out my sub? is anyone aware of what the settings should be on my equipment? or maybe there is a device i can add to remover treble?

Your amp should have a filter on it, called a low pass filter. Set it to ~80Hz.

is there a built in crossover in the amp? if so, there should be a high and low pass filter switch on the amp, which depending on your switch position, filter the high or low frequencies......

You don't worry about the high because you're using the low pass filter.

Low pass means it lets the low frequencies pass through to the speaker and blocks the high frequencies. High pass means the opposite.

I just went and had another look..

    Soundstream XTA480.4 Xtream Series (4ch)
    Config settings...

    Rear Channels:
    Level (Dial)
    Sub Sonic (Dial)
    BASS EQ (Dial)
    HPF 50hz - 500hz (Dial)
    LPF 50hz - 500hz (Dial)
    HPF/FULL/LPF (Switch)

So i have the switch on LPF, the LPF dial on 80? and i dont need to worry bout the HPF because the switch is on LPF.

Also what effect do i get if i have the LPF to 50 vs 500??

    That's correct.

The number you set the low pass filter to determines what range of frequencies it will let through. You don't have to set it to 80Hz, but that is generally where most people like it for 12" subs. Vary it and see what sounds best to you.

if you put it on 500Hz, it will be pretty much the same as having no LPF
