Hello all. Of the many problems I have in my life, I am finaly admitting that I need help with one.
I have had my Alpine 12 inch subs for a while. They give good bass but when I turn them up things start to rattle. I have been able to isolate the problem, it is
these rubber vent thingys in the boot. They appear to allow the the boot to ventilate but the bass is making them rattle and it is starting to piss me off.
They are on either side of the boot (in my VT), two down where the jack is, two in the same place on the oppsite side. I am wondering if anyone else has had
the same problem and what they have done about it.
Cheers guys and girls,
Steve.
get a tube of silastic n seal everything?
i duno i havent done much work on my vt but i will be very soon.
i know how dissapointed you are thoguh when shit starts to rattle
it just feels like you have a $10 stereo![]()
I think you hit the nail on the head with the biggest hammer in the workshop with that one.Originally Posted by andrewgrazier
I dont know about sealing that up cos I think it still has to vent, thats mt issue at the moment.
how about u replace or cover them with foam??? foam is a good start for stopping rattles
No only from the outside, but we use my car for music when we have piss ups in the country, so I want nice clean music all round. (mabey a bit ambitious)Originally Posted by StoneX
And foam might be the idea cheers.
actually what you need is STRIPS of adhesive foam. place a strip of it along the edge of each flap. This will allow it to vent and it will also shut it the hell up. Does make the flaps a little heavier to move by themselves but they still will.
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!
That will work perfectly I think. Cheers 12Volt I owe you one.Originally Posted by 12Voltking

Your joke in the first place? Ok, that went straight over my head..
Please explain...
(I sound like own a bloody Fish and Chip shop owner)
Are we on the wrong page?
The title of the thread "bad vibrations" I was sort of playing on the Beach Boys song "good vibrations". I thought you were on about that but obviously not.....
Fair enough if the title of the thread was based on the Beach Boys.. Too bad it wasn't..
More like the other way around..
Disagree.. We'll joust Mr. O Grundy..
On your horse then.
Nahh.. CBF..
Your mum's the only ride I'll go tonight.. Some other time maybe..
Ok... no idea why that had to be added. I'm half way through sound deadening my passenger door right now. Taking a look at dynamat i've come up with an alternative. Bulk order in 300 or so boxes of Uncle Toby's rollup's and use these in place of dynamat. If they don't work you can always eat them.Originally Posted by Shounak
Dont worry, was only a joke. I can take it. *wipes tear from eye*Originally Posted by Brycestro
But rollups. You may just be on to something there, edible sound deadening. Hmmm. Yummy.
