ok guys i have in my vl a pioneer deck pioneer 150w 4inch in the dash and 260w 6 by 9's on the shelf. The sound is absolout crap compared to my mates who have basicaly the same gear running off a deck. What i want to know is could this be due to shitty speaker wire or any other sugestions as the wire in it just now cost like 15bucks from motoquip for 12m lol

When you say basically the same gear do you mean exactly the same or different models?
It would also depend on how they are mounted and where and the qaulity of the sound the deck is putting out.
I installed 6x9's in my mates VS he had 2 diff types of pioneer 6x9's we installed one set and they sounded shit house, we isntalled the second set and they sounded 100% better. Both were around the same price range one set was just last years model.

hmmm sounds like u need to do a better job connecting speaker wire...it seams like uve have done a weak join with ur wire id go re-do ur joins n just check that they are connected firmly to the headunit wores n on the speakers....but then again it could be the cd ur listining to if u burn it fast it will play scratchy but it could be the speaker wire but i doubt it....
Catcha's... hope ya get it soundin sweet with out spendin too long findin the problem
nah its same even with real like bought cd's

hmm sounds like it could only be the speaker wire then, go round n solder them if u have one the only other thing u could do is try different speaker wire...
wat sort of head unit is it av u got a model no there??
Have you set up your filters correctly?
If you have any frequencies under 200hz going to those 4inchs it will sound like complete garble.
You might have some speaker wires backwards... This will cause the bass frequencies to cancel out and you'll just hear alot of treble.
Makes sure all the +'s go to the +'s and vice versa.
its out of faze
make sure + is + and - is on -
to test turn on and balance to the left or right and if you notice more bass when left or rightif there is no bass when in middle then your out of faze
90% of problems are wrongly wired
You can also be out of phase, front to rear as well as left to right.....just thought I would make that known.....cheersOriginally Posted by daron.
