I'm starting to plan my sub box design but I'm a new to all this audio stuff. I just want opinions on an idea i have.
My plan was to have a box the witdh of my boot. I wan't to put 1 sub aiming through the fold down part of the rear seat and put two subs on the top of the box to line up with the 6x9 speaker holes. Subs will most likely be 10".
I planned to use 2 four channel amps. One to drive the front and rear speakers and the other I want to bridge two channels for the centre sub and use one channel each for the two other subs.
Any reason why this can't or shouldn't be done?
PS. I don't want my subs facing into the boot.
Cheers.
might get a little complicated sealing each sub from eachother but it could work. i dont know if having the upward firing subs would be " maximising their potential " personally but i havent heard a system with a sub firing up yet.
attn Über geeks, i play Second life. Patrio Graysmark.
well good luck finding a 4 channel with 4 outputs of around 250Wrms for a decent price!
why do you want to have the box built that certain way?
why are you set on usualing 2 4 channel amps?
Make the box however you want, just make sure its the correct size quoted in the specs and its completly air tight, or else its going to sound crappp.
You could design your own enclosure with a different volume, but unless you know what your doing its not going to come out good.
also be careful of having subs on different angles like that with the one facing into cabin and two facing upwards. the dynamics of it all inside the sub box having the different directions could give you some grief as far as sound goes because it could get a bit muddy. I've never personally tried a sub box with subs facing complete different directions but have heard unless it's done properly the sound waves can begin to interfere with each other and cause problems as far as sound quality goes.
I got 2 Cadence 4CH amps. 1 runs the door speakers and splits and the other runs the 2 12" subs. Seems to work well. I make all my sub boxes up myself. Not that hard to do. I actually am going to re-design them to be more low profile. I do have a wagon so it helps when you have more room to play with.

I'm still not sure what to do with the design. I thought of doing it that way because I would like to have atleast 2 subs but I don't wan't them facing into the boot.
I might just go with one then.
have you actually heard the difference between 3 subs of $x and one sub of $3x? i would choose the more expensive single sub everytime.
