hey
iv got a sound system out of my old gemini ready to go into my ute.
the delema i face is where to put the two subs.
iv got 2 12" subs, and my plan is to put them behind the two sets, to do this i'll have to cut a hole in the metal that seperates the cabin from the tray and build a box in the tray that is hard up to this metal and make it air tight.
it doesnt seem to hard, and iv spoken to a bloke at tradeskol who's done the same and he said its not hard.
but when i spoke to a mates older brother he said that if i cut these holes in the metal (seperating cabin from tray) and then i were to get defected id never get it back on the road.
that threw a spanner in the works,so i was wondering if and one knew the laws in SA about this.
iv heard about the fuel tank plan but i'd rater see the subs.
any help would be much appreciated
well if u get it defected then its a new panel that has to be welded in......one thing u can do is move that rear panel back and make a shelf for those 2 subs and build a custom box into it, so if you know someone with an engineers certificate who's half clocked onto this kinda job you might be able to do it
i just had my 2 subs in a custom box in the tray just behind the panel and they were good enough for me
I recently just brought my 97 vs ute, it had a sub an a set of 6x9 speakers in the back wall with a box. in order for it to be roadworthy i had to get thin sheet metal an cover the holes, then i just got the rear wall re capeted only cost $80 any capet place will do it, an i put a new tub-liner in it. now that the vehicle is in my name i'm going to put 2 subs behind the seats an a set of 6x9's back in it. I will replate the whole wall when i go to sell it an get it recarpeted so no one knows
