why bother? just get another switch from dick smith, jaycar.etc, theyre a dime a dozen. but why would you want a switch for your amp?

well for starters i already have the parts out of a vs and so it doesnt look out of the ordinary and it is so you can turn the amp off if it is over heating or you not in the mood for all the base

Have you tested it to make sure it is on or off? From memory, the switch is momentary i.e. it only gives a pulse when pressed. To do what you want would require some type of flip-flop circuit and relay. So not impossible but not really practical.

The remote wire carries very little current so it should be fine.
