i've got a old 4 channel Kicker amp that i want to use to run a daul 6ohm voice coil sub that i have.
just wondering if i'ld be better running the sub bridged on two channels at 3ohms (yes the amp is stable at 3ohms) or to run each voice coil indivisaully bridged off both the front and the back channels.
the amp is rated to 50wrms @ 4ohms per channel and about 160 wrms @ 4ohms bridged.
hopefully in the future i'll be getting a new amp to run the sub, but i'll have to make do with what i have for now.
also to use a relay on the remote amp wire its just a case of running the remote wire through the relay and then too earth isn't it?
How much power can the sub handle? That should guide your choice.
One side of relay coil to remote from HU and ground other side. Then the switch contacts of the relay from +12v and to the remote in on the amp.

the sub is a lanzer comp rated at 450 watts (don't know if thats peak or rms though) its an old sub but was a highend one about 4 years ago
Yeah connect each voice coil to two channels bridged. Just make sure you set the gains properly to avoid overpowering, i.e. start low and work your way up. Try to keep the two gain pots equal. Set the HU at about 3/4 volume. Adjust the gains up a bit at a time with both, until you hear distortion. then back off a bit.
