    Default sub channel

    hi all

My new headunit as a dedicated sub channel output.

My question is do i set my amp (Jaycar response) to low pass filter, of leave it at full and let the headunit do the filtering??

    cheers

Do you know the crossover point of the sub channel output? Does it match what you want to use for the sub? If you want a lower x-over point, then use the low pass on the amp.

I'd say it wouldn't matter too much. Maybe try both and see what sounds better?

I usually set the amp to about 100Hz and then use the head unit to choose 80Hz, 63Hz, or 50Hz depending on the music i'm listening to.

If you use the head unit one, it allows adjustment "on the go".

Yeah, depends if the hu xover suits. Some have fixed, some are variable. Some of the fixed ones are limited. Some are good. They are likely to be as good or better than the jaycar amp xover. If necessary, the amps low pass filter does a good job.

If you want to use the remote level control, i think the low pass on the amp has to be on for it to work. If you have sub volume control on the hu, then use that instead. The jaycar remote level control has a limited range of control and is more like an on-off control.
