arista sub????

im wondering if anyone can help me. i know nothing about sound so any information is appreciated. my mate found this sub in his shed and gave it to me. its old because it came from his dad's old audio store a few good years ago. so heres what it says on the back...

sounds like it would be heaps weak to me so what do u guys know about it?
is it worth hooking up or just chuck it back in the shed...

doesnt sound like normal car audio ratings but again you mentioned it is old.

i suppose you could try it with an good box and if it blows then throw in a new sub, end of the line is it should work, you should hear it, it should kick but ofcourse for $$$ there is louder and harder.

8 ohm usually indicated that it was designed for home audio use. It'll still work, but if you're going to go to the effort of getting a box and stuff, you'd be better of spending a little bit on something suited to car audio.

well my subs are 300Wrms and you can buy subs from around 150Wrms to 5000wrms.

it was probably intended for PA use considering it's an Arista. It's not going to kick hard as they are generally designed for full range.

thanks, 12voltking, youre probably the only person thats even hear of arista. How much kick do u reckon it would put out compared to a pioneer 1000 watt sub i was looking at getting. do u think it's even worth worying about? thanks for the help mate.

power rating has nothing to do withit really. It's the fact that it's efficency will be through the roof. Infact putting 90wrms into it means you will have trouble getting close enough to it to disconnect the damn thing. It's gonna be loud. Real loud. But OH>MY>GOD it will sound terrible like Patriot said...6" on steriods.

i have a really good idea for you 94vrexec, You should get a really good amp and blow the F-bleep-cker up and film it then post it on here for viewing

yer thats not a half bad idea. when i get my new sub and amp ill just chuk the old one in for a bit to watch it blow..... hehehe.
