Smile HU Limiter or something more sinister?

I just installed a new alpine cda 9857 in my vr. I got it crankin with some metal and i got it up to about 25 volume and it seemed like the sub just cut out. i got splits in the front so it goes all treble. is there a limiter in the head unit.

    Thanks???????

To try and understand what going on we need some more info....

When the sub cuts out does the protection light on the amp come on?

What sort of amplifier are you using to run the sub?

    What sub are you running?

    1. Check the gain on the amplifier for the amp, make sure its not set to high.

    2. Make sure the earth on the amp is good (metal on metal contact) and secure.

    3. Make sure the power cable is of the correct gauge (Size)

Let us know if any of this works.....cheers

oh. i thought he meant that the mids of his splits cut out too- that would be 'all treble'
