Default Speaker sizes for VZ ute

    Hi Guys,

I just recently bought a new VZ SS Ute. I am looking at upgrading my speakers. Can someone please answer the following questions:

    1) Are the Speakers splits are coaxial
    2) What size are the speakers (i just want them to be directly swapped)
    3) If they are splits, where are the current tweeters.

    Many thanks

i believe they are 6" splits not 6.5" - the tweeters are under the vents at each on the dash

there are no cross overs with the standard speakers by the way

    Care to take a look
    VZ audio
ive done an extensive writeup on replacing speakers (woofers n tweeters) for the fronts as i did first hand meself with my ute - fitted a pair of JL 6 inch splits
anywas to simply answer your questions... front doors are splits with 6" woofers - no xover just a filter capacitor on the factory tweeter,
and the tweeters are located under the vented area - article will explain in detail how to dismantle for access
    see if thats any help!

Hi Guys. Thanks for the help.

So after reading the above thread, the stock speakers are 6", but 6.5" can be fitted. How much modification is needed to fit the 6.5" speakers, is it a big job? I don't want to modify the cartoo much.

depends on the speaker your putting in, some pioneer ones can be screwed straight in no problems, others require cutting away the back end of the door pod

if they do need any cutting it will only be minor.
