I am going to install a stereo in my VN. Either one of the choices I have are not great systems but will all do the job I require of them. I have Kenwood 6x9s for the rear and only 4 inch Pioneer dual cones in the front.
So when you have stopped laughing, maybe you could help me with my choice. Note there is no intention to install an amp (at this stage)
My choices are:
1. Pioneer KEH-1150 Radio Cassette + FM transmitter 6CD stacker.
Being Pioneer it should be reliable and be close to the 22W x 4 it quotes.
2. Eurovox 8790 Radio Cassette (came from an Audi A3) + 10CD stacker
Unknown entity to me, quotes 50W x 4, full stacker controls on deck,
security coded (have code) also plugs straight into VN-VR making things easier
3. Fujitsu 10 (or Matsushita) Radio Cassette (from a Cressida) + 10CD
stacker, 45W x 4, full stacker controls on deck, from my experiences they
are well made and reliable with similar sound quality to a pioneer (unamped)
straight from the head unit.
All are single DIN.
Anybody have any experience they wish to impart? It would be most appreciated.
Thankyou

Go for the Eurovox. Your current speakers aren't bad of quality but they will blow big balls if you use the FM transmitter in the Pioneer.
The Fujitsu just isn't a good brand. Period.
The Eurovox on the other hand is the greatest but is certainly a reliable unit. Not only will plug straight in but it will also bolt straight in. It won't put out the 50x4 but then again, NONE of them do. The best you can manage from any headunit is about 17wrms.
Thats the kings choice. Lets hear it from others now eh?
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!
Cheers, I was leaning toward the Eurovox as it is the easiest.
I won't bother with the Fujitsu then, too much messing around anyway.
I 've actually never had any problems with them in the three Toyotas I've owned but I've never really tested them out though.
Thanks Mr King, Eurovox it is.

fujitsu? dont they make air conditioners??![]()
Fujitsu owns/makes Eclipse... They make excellent head units, but stock Fujitsu from an old car, who knows the quality.
Kenwood make mops.
Panasonic make everything.
Pioneer make TV's, DVD, home amps, etc.
Brands that make other products can still make decent car audio![]()
I have an LG headunit that whoops butt. LOL

ive never heard of a fujitsu TV. but brands that make general AV stuff sound ok, eg pioneer LG etc. Im not sure what the point of this post is
Fujitsu make pretty good plasma TV's, up there with Pioneer and Hitachi.
This is way off topic![]()
still stumpedmewhen I had to repair a Mitsubishi TV.

I was incorrect in my opening post.
The Fujitsu 10 (or Matsushita) as I described is not a Fujitsu 10 product.
It looks nearly identical to the stereo in my wife's Camry but is not the same brand, I just assumed it was.
It is actually a Panasonic (which is a Matsushita product).
This won't affect my choice of installing the Eurovox.
For a bit of fun look up all the Electronic brand names you can think of (especially the cheap brands) at this site http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page
You should be surprised at the different product names used by and traded under of some of them.
Some I knew like Acer/BenQ and Magnavox/Phillips but some were not expected.
Look up HMV and try to keep track of the associated companies.
Maybe something to do if you are bored.
Slightly different but in the same vein your IBM PC is more than likely an Acer PC with new clothes if it's two or more years old (manufacturing date not date purchased). It's not just cars that are badge engineered. I have known this for many years and always found it interesting when salesmen bagged Acer but touted the quality of the IBM at a 60% higher price until you removed the side and showed them the Acer mobo and identical parts.

Update: 10 minutes to dismantle my dash, 68 minutes to undo the screw on the drivers side facing towards the back of the car (needed an 8mm ring spanner I didn't have), 10 seconds to disconnect plug and aerial, 1 second to realise the plug differs from that on the other Eurovox system, 5 seconds to decide to fit the Pioneer unit without the stacker for now.
I'm off to wire up the Pioneer.

bah and gah! YOu don't have the old wiring loom for the eurovox by ay chance I'm guessing....
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!
No. The one I wanted to fit didn't come with the plug.
I have actually refitted the original system instead of butcher the brackets.
I'll make up a loom using a dead Eurovox in the shed and connect the wires individually to the new deck. That way I won't have to remove the original plug.
Now I just have to work out which pin is for what.
The old Eurovox is marked on the board, easy, the new one with six extra pins is not.
Any knowledge on the Eurovox pin setup? There are 18 pins.
I'll try Google.
Edit: Found what I needed on the Eurovox Aus site.
