hey guys new to the forum i drive a 96' vs ss (hope to have some pics up soon) anywayz i just bout a new system nothing to fancy few bits and pieces from pioneers 2006 range! i am no audio whiz, (prob could do the 6 X 9 by me self but F#$%ed if i know about the fronts with the tweeders ect . . . .) so i was just wondering if any one could help me out with some places to take my ride for it to be installed professionaly? i am located in the melb area thanks!
I'v only heard bad things about proffessional installers, or atleast ones from super-rice, ricer-barn and jb-hifi as they are on the clock and do bodgy jobs. My advise would be go to a specialist but still if you want it done properly do it yourself, its not hard and theres info everywhere about it.
Just my 2c
BTW are you running an amp??
whats your budget is a better way to look at it?
thanks for the advice, yea i heard the same bout them dodgy F$#@'s, yer running a poineer 4ch amp no sub butbut yea lookin to spend no more than about $200 on getting it installed!
man just do a search...you will get all the info you need and get to know your car better...installing is no worries, like i said find a dash and door trim post, it was all i needed to put my splits in the front of my VS...never used an amp so i can't help you there...hope that helps...a little bit...
Need some parts for my VH 253:
Green standard steering wheel...Green lower B-pillar covers.
Green sunglasses holder/lower dash bits...Air-con and assorted engine bay parts.
PM with any info.
Jb Hifi did mine and i have never had a issue with it. Infact i keep adding to it and they make it cheaper to install coz the set up the wires for next time knowing im coming back. Meet and greet the installer. If they seem dodgey to you then walk away. simple.![]()

ever since i saw the photo of a jb hi fi install where they cut the metal up in a parcel shelf to fit 6x9s, ive decided theyre never touching a car of mine.Originally Posted by fabz
im sure that someone experienced on this forum would install it for $200.

Yeah... with a bit of effort and time you can do it all yourself and you'll get that satisfying feeling at the end of it too. If you run into problems there's a numerous number of people on this and other forums willing to help out, one of which is me :P.
4ch is easy, you dont really always needa sub anyway, see how this goes and add a sub running of a mono amp later. Wiring for it will be fairly straight-forward, the hard part is mounting your gear eg. (fitting new H/U, pulling off door trims for splits, 6x9's on parcel shelf etc) but its all on here.Originally Posted by ssmate
I had a diagram for a 4ch amp laying round which may help you with the wiring.
thanks for advice/tips! this forum rocks get a response so quickly an easy! im a member on a few other holden forums but they reak compaired to this! thanks guys
Another thing to remember (however obvious it is) is to attack it in steps... For example work on chucking in rear speakers only and once they're installed and wiring is ready, work on fronts only. Don't try and confuse yourself by handling everything in you mind at once. With this said, you do need a basic understanding to begin with so you know what goes where (i.e. if you didn't know speaker wire ran from the speakers to the amplifier then you might go do something silly and run it from the rear speakers back to the headunit).
This was probably a completely unhelpful comment, but thought i'd add it anyway.
Damn mate if you were in Brisbane I'd spend a day helping you out with it in exchange for a carton.
* Phreddy's Blaupunkt Aux input and line out mod
* 18x8 inch Equus Kalibur Wheels with Maxxis MAV-1 235/40R18
* Sureflo 3.5 inch medium-loud cat back exhaust
just dont buy your system in bits! you will over spend on one component and then have only the money for a 1/2 decent component next! its very important to remember this. i know a fair few people who have wasted money on a h/u and skimped on speakers.it should be the other way around!Originally Posted by Brycestro
yup i'll second what garfa said, as far as choosing equipment try and get a good idea of what you want and how your going to allocate the money from the start. I know my budget has been blown way out for the stereo. Always remember to factor in the cost of wiring/connections and any other materials you may need as well (MDF, carpet, glues, any tools etc).
