    Default Thiele-Small guru's - input required....

Hey all, especially to any Thiele-Small afficionados out there.....

I have a small conundrum, in that I'm wanting to use a particular driver in a ported sub box design - it's a DVC driver, twin 2 ohm coils - the Thiele-Small parameters listed for the driver relate to single voice coil usage, but I'd like to use the two coils in a series hookup for a 4 ohm load impedance. (there's no parameters listed for dual coil mode in any configuration, series or parallel)

My question is this - is there a fairly standard conversion/calculation to derive the dual coil parameters from the single coil figures? I know that BassBox Pro can do this for you on the fly, but I'm not using that modelling program and don't really want to spend 150 bucks to be able to!!

(although I do have a brand new VY/VZ short-shifter stick for the V8 six slotter which I'd swap for it!!)

Anyhow, any help would be appreciated. If you read this and go "Huh??" thanks for looking at the thread anyways.

    Cheerz!

G'day VQXTC - we meet again!

Mate, that'd be legendary! Thanks for that, single coil parameters as follows....

It's the Response CS2366 by the way - the 10" metal coated cone jobby.

    SPL - 87.2 dB/W/m
    Vas - 66.085 litres
    Re - 1.3 ohm
    Fs - 23.7 Hz
    Qms - 3.976
    Qes - 0.382
    Qts - 0.348
    Xmax - 10mm p-p
and just in case it matters, voice coil daimeter is 65mm.

LOL! If I can push my luck a bit further could you do a port calc for me?? I'll have a box volume of pretty well spot-on 25 litres (after subtracting braces and back volume), and I'd like to use a port diameter of 58mm if possible. (wanted to use the flared ones that Jaycar have)

Thanks again Mate - if you can post at least the parameters for dual coil operation in SERIES mode, I can run it through the box modelling proggy that I have, maybe compare the results.

LOL! Thanks XTC, but I've been as busy as a one-legged man in an arse kicking contest lately!

Have the box plan drawn up, the saw hasn't turned a revolution yet - I'll get on it soon though....

Oh, and the port calc made perfect sense BTW. Thanks again Mate - will definitely report on the results.
