Doing the stero in the wifes car this weekend, just need to know if anyone has any hints to get the old stero out so i can put the new one in. I have done it in a vk and hq but not a 'newer model' so if there are any hints that would be great. Wiring is easy no probs just the removel is a prob. If theres a link on here i cant find it ha ha. Cheers all.![]()

Hey Fabz ere is the link to removal of headunit... got pics, really easy to follow tells you everything...Complete VN,VP,VR,VS,VQ,VG Headunit Guide [56k warning]
That should help ya out
Have a good one, hope it dont take to long to do.should only take bout an hr
I'm sure there's something on here about removal. VR/VS are the same and its a bit of a bitch...you have to take off like 3 or 4 panels just to get to the head unit.
1. Plastic panel drivers side under the steering...just plastic pop screws
2. Glovebox...with that annoying plastic bolt in it
3. Removal of plastic transmission cover (fingers where handbrake is and lift up)
4. Black centre console surround removal (screws at the bottom)
5. Heater or climate control unit removal for heater...there is a bolt near where the foot rest is...the metal rod should lead you there...
6. Large grey centre console removal...screws are revealed when steps 1, 2 and 4 are done
7. I thinks thats it...should see the screws for the brackets for the head unit...man I'm tired...loll
Crossed over to the dark side...
Thanks fellas should make life a hell of a lot easier!!!

i thought the idea of having a sticky in a forum was to stop topics such as h/u removal being posted again and again?
fabz I seem to recall you are local? bring car around and I will help you out without breaking so many little plastic tabs. Assuming you haven't completed the job already.
