hey guys im looking at buying the rockford fosgate T5001bd monobloc. ive got two 12s at 350watt rms, 4ohms dual vioce coil. Just wondering how good is this amp? and how good would it run my subs? and also how much watt rms each sub will be getting? cheers [SIK-GMH]
well you can either wire the subs so that a load of 4 ohms (VC's in parallel and subs in series) or 1 ohm (VC's in parallel and subs in parallel) is presented to the amp.
now they are rated to 375Wrms and the amp produces 125W at 4 ohms (read useless for the subs) and 500Wrms at 1 ohm.
so pretty much the amp is not suited to the subs at all.
you should really consider the t10001bd if you plan to wire the subs to 1 ohm or the t20001bd.
these amps will be much better suited if you want a monoblock.
othewr amps that would suit are P850.2, p10002, p8002, p8004.
all those amps will run the subs fine.
Hi Garfa, so will my subs be sharing 500watt rms at 1 ohm or will they be gettitng 500 watt rms each at 1 ohm?
they will be sharing the 500W at 4ohm. So you will be getting 250W RMS to each sub. You really dont want to wire at 1ohm and still have to push the amp for the subs, as at 1ohm the amp is a lot closer to its limits, as garfa has recently discovered. His amp has been playing up a little when running at 1ohm
nah my jaycar is just dissagreeing with the whole 1 ohm thing just a minor problem!![]()
