    Default Kenwood, Any good?

Does anybody out there run a kenwood sub or amp?
im thinking of buying a Kenwood KFC-W3514DVC sub, and wanted to know if Kenwood has a good name around subs or not.

I think you'll find they have an "average" name. They're certainly not considered the pinnacle of audio but they're not considered utter rubbish either.

my full stereo system is kenwood, apart from my sub.
the 6x9s are very good, they give really deep strong sound, and ive heard a few of their subs, they seem good

Yeah i agree with that, except there are sometimes where things will be clear cut crap. Obviously a $15 set of fake name rip off splits is going to sound nowhere near as good as a $500 set of decent splits and if you think they do then your probably an extremely rare individual. Sure within a certain range of equipment where there's slight variations someone might find one thing sounds better than another, but then you have extremes where they'll be a strong general concensus that one thing sound better than the other. The whole thing is subjective, but if 99 people tell me speaker A sounds better than speaker B and one person tells me speaker B sounds better than speaker A i'd probably choose speaker A.

Yeah i get where your coming from garfa. It's just a see it said alot and worry that some won't be able to decipher that there's still a clear difference between good and shite that your probably gunna hear no matter who you are and what your preference is. Anyways, happy speaker hunting.

I have used a variety of Kenwood splits, and they have all been crap and they have always blown... The 6x9's were good, and I haven't installed the 7x10's yet, but do so on Sat.. So will let you know about that one…

I had Kenwood decks and they are OK ... I now prefer Pioneer for decks... I also had Kenwood HQ 10" subs, and they are 1 of the best subs I have ever had... They pumped hard... I ended up giving them to my friend when I got the 2 Alpine Type R's... And he is still in love with them... But I don't know if they still do HQ sires anymore....

Like anything with stereo’s you have to listen to yourself… I remember years ago there as a lot of hype around Cerwin Vega… And I paid a 5h!t load for a set of 6x9”s and thought the sounded crap….
I spend too much money on my cars & bike

im running 2 kenwood KFC-w3010 witch are 1000watters and i have a moderate amp and the 2 subs thump my vh. with my amp on half and the bass setting on the hu set at 0 all three of my mirrors shake so much you cant use them.

im pretty happy with them the 3514DVC's are the model up from mine you will nee a big amp to run it being a dual voice coil there rated at 380watt at 4 ohms.

i recon it would thump boxed right with a good amp. keep us posted with your decission

the KFC-w3010 is only a single voice coil sub. imagine the next ones up bridged together running 2 ohm, that would blow your boot lid off.

The subs are just have a rated power handling of 380W, and dual 4 ohm voice coils. That means it will only run at 2 or 8 ohms.

    Default Anyone heard of Response

Looking at all the brands can be confusing, would be good if someone did an unbiased test one day to compare.............wait a min.........they did............years ago.....if I remember right the Response from Jaycar came out in top place for most tests (clarity, base response, sharpness, loud etc...)

Ive run Jaycar & Kenwood & some Clarion gear.
In future I wont worry about names, i'll just go with whats proven to be best.
Ive never heard a system that sounds as good as my old Response system apart from what I've seen in proffesional car stereo shows.

I must admit I've never used the Response Amps tho, they didn't have them back then when I built my first system but knowing Jaycars selection department I would say they are good as well.

Jaycar's response amps have a reputation as having excellent bang for buck, but there is obviously better available if you have the money. The cost to improve car stereo systems goes up exponentially with quality unfortunately.

Ive always run with Kenwood gear since I started driving. I think Kenwood havent done themselves any favours by selling kitchen appliances, it has cheapened their name. I have a Kenwood minidisc player in my car and it has lasted over 7 years so far and been transplanted into 7 cars. Their subs are good, I ran a pair of 10s on a 750w amp and you could hear it a block away. Ive got the tickets to prove it!.
Im not a complete idiot, some parts are still on backorder!

I had a Kenwood KDC3021 headunit running the standard spakers and tweeters, with a Kenwood 12" sub and Kenwood 2 channel amp (can't remember the model numbers now). The sub was loud and I never had problems with any of it.
Whoever said 'There is no substitute for cubes' had obviously never heard of Jet power
