Saturday September 16th night at Narre Warren, Stother's Hifi or something. They're having a competition, you can enter that. Even if you're a beginner, it's worth a try

there's a couple of options: a) find a sound off/db drag/spl comp around your local somewhere and put ya car in that b) pay somewhere like autobarn or a car stereo specialist store to give it a run on the meter for awhile c) fork out about $1300 on a termlab system and hope that you own a laptop to use it with d) buy a spl meter that's not as accurate as the termlab for about $300.

I just purchased one form car audio australia, apparently they're a few decibels higher than what the termlab system reads (the most accurate and benchmark spl system used in any decent/serious comps = termlab), but at least they're fairly accurate against themselves which some spl meters aren't (affected by weather conditions, temperature, altitude) where you often end up with two completely different scores under same conditions.

I'm assuming you don't want to spend $1300, and probably not $300 either, but if you did want one to call your own look here:

only other thing i can think of is asking on car audio australia if there's anybody in your area that has a termlab system you can borrow for 30 minutes or so for a small fee.

Ummm... There is different 'classes', I think amateur could be anything from $1,000 system up to $20,000 I've never entered, so i'm not sure on details. It's a CAASQ event as far as I know, details on CAA forum.

I'd almost be willing to take you up on this.
-Democracy must be something more than two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner.
    James Bovard, Civil Libertarian (1994)
-Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys.
    P.J. O'Rourke, Civil Libertarian
-Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short Phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
    Ronald Reagan (1986)
