After all the comments floating around about consoles in cars i've decided to have a look myself. I have an chipped Xbox which can play anything and everything. Those TFT monitors on ebay are only like $150, and a power inverter for the car is only about $30. Just wondering if anyone else out there has done this, if there are any problems that I should be considering, or anything I should be looking out for. At the moment im just playing with idea's.
all i can think of is the dvd drive skipping with bumps, and heat. get a good fan in there or keep it in the open and padding around it for bumps and then your all good. keep passengers happy thats for sure
Achin' for a v8 wagon people click me!
yeah, i believe some lower grade inverters do a poor job when it comes to powering an Xbox/Playstation. have a read around on the forum, i can't remember the technical reason.
would it be alright to run a PS2/XBox on a modified sine wave? caus thoses $50 150watt power inverters from jaycar look alright. <link below>

I have a 150w inverter in the car, wired into the loom so we don't use a ciggie socket, works good (we mounted it under the drivers seat, so the 2nd row of seats cas access it). Runs the PS2 fine and even the laptop.
The jaycar unit should be fine
azzfox, who is - "Armin Van Buuren/24"
dual boot linux off it, then you get a car PC too :P
attn Über geeks, i play Second life. Patrio Graysmark.
i have a PsOne with a Flip up screen in my car. It run's off one of those Jaycar converters. Works to a treat but i keep myne in the passanger glovebox so only the passanger can play it.
How much do one of these mod'd xbox's cost ???
depends what type, theres one for like $120 but i think its 100g
Now that 360 is out the original Xboxes will be dirt cheap, so I'm lookin to get one modded for Linux too
I'm gonna be looking at buying another xbox for my wagon with a big arse flip down screen in the boot area, jus so we can lift the tailgate, pull up a deck chair, and play v8 supercars 3. "duff man says: oooooooh yeahhhh" (thrusts pelvis)
so one of those $40 JayCar invertors can do the trick for a laptop or anything no sweat?? i would love to get 2 of them, wire them into the loom and put them at the back under each front seat so they're accesable to the rear seatseasy to do?? just simple to get them into the loom?? and would it be bad to leave in the whole time?? even if u turned it off at the external swtich?? cheers

Just make sure the alternator and battery are up to it, I only run one inverter and only one item at a time
yeah had a think about itone would do the trick, power cords can reach across the seats if needed
would be handy
i am running evox dashboard with XB media centre on my chipped xbox with a 120gb harddrive, XB media centre is fantastic.
as for people talking about chipping xboxs there is a cheap method called softmodding, i have done it before and it works well, not as good as a chip IMO but it works.
should be fine for 2, or just one?? Would be very handy![]()
