    Post Wiring Problems!!!

    Hi,
I'm In The Process Of Hooking Up A Eurovox Dvd Player In My Vt..It Plays For A Couple Of Minutes Then Switches Off...Has Any1 Else Installed One?
Also Is It Neccessary To Have The Dimmer Wires Hooked Up?Do I Have To Have Antenna Wire Hooked Up(Currently Hooked Up To Acc Wire)...I Currently Have 1 Dimmer Wire Comming Off H/U(As I Only Have One) And Have Hooked Up The (Brown/White Dimmer Wire Off Loom)...Also I Have Hooked Up As Follows:
+12v Acc-(Currently Connected To Orange/Black(Battery Wire On Loom)Because It Works..
    +12v Back-Up To Yellow/Red(Constant On Loom)
Antenna On I've Hooked Up To Acc Wire(Yellow) ...

Any Suggestions On What I'm Doing Wrong Would Be Much Appreciated,Or Fixing This Prob,Cheers

The antenna wire I don't think should be connected to the acc wire. The 12v acc should be connected to the acc, so it turns on when the ignition is on, and turns of when the ignition is off. And the antenna wire should be connected to the electric antenna, or to ur amp/s. The antenna wire sends a signal to it's destination to let it know that the cd player is on, if it goes to ur elec antenna then it tells the antenna to go up, if it goes to ur amp then it tells ur amp to power up.

    Hi VHpirie,
The Acc Wire I Have Connected To The Acc Wire On The Loom But It Won't Work So I've Stuck To The Current Combo(Because It Works But I Need To Play Around A Bit More To Get The Right Combo)...As For The Antenna Wire,I Have A 99' Mod Vt And Theres No Antenna Wire On The Loom For The Antenna On Wire I Have Coming Off The Unit...So Seeing There's No Provision For Antenna Wire I Thought I'd Hooked This Up To The Acc Wire On Loom,Acc Wire Off Head Unit I Have Connected To The Battery And The Back-up Wire Off H/U I've Connected To The Constant Wire On Loom.... Anyway Maybe I Should Contact Eurovox,See If They Have A Solution Seeing There Only Down The Road From Me,Thanks For Your Response,Cheers

    Hi,
Another question,is the yellow/red wire on vt loom for constant or antenna?...as on this site, the vt wiring diagram says yellow/red is constant but i've downloaded a eurovox wiring diagram and they say the yellow/red is antenna+12v wire?I own a 99' supercharged vt series 1 and have no antenna wires(up/down)so maybe i should hook-up this wire to antenna on rather than acc wire?.

Please dont capitalise the first letter or EVERY word, it makes it very difficult to read, not to mention being terrible grammar. Capital letters are for proper nouns and the first letter of a sentence.

I can read it, but it annoys people, and when you're looking for someone to answer your question, its a good idea to make it easy to read. I couldnt be stuffed reading your original post because it was irritating, and theres probably a few others too

Here is the way EVERY wire on your deck should be wired to the CAR..if it isn't pull it out bend over and kiss your arse and headunit goodbye....

    Accesories - Yellow
    Constant - Orange/White
    Illumination - Brown/White
    Earth - Black/White
    12V OUTPUT - Yellow/Red
Radio Mute - Yellow/Black (VT onwards)
Antenna up - White (VR onwards)
Antenna down - Blue (VR onwards)
Illumination OUTPUT - Grey (VT onwards)

    Speakers
    Front Left (+) - Tan
    Front Left (-) - Grey
    Front Right (+) - Light/Green
    Front Right (-) - Dark/Green
    Rear Left (+) - Brown/Black
    Rear Left (-) - Yellow/Blue
    Rear Right (+) - Blue/Orange
    Rear Right (-) - Blue/Black
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!

    G'Morning People,
Answering *Vn6pwr,maybe it does take longer to type but seeing i've been typing that way for a while,it's a habit thing and i don't really notice....
Also regards *semi usually i'd be my stubborn self and take no advice, anyway i'll stick to the rule of thumb language so it's readable.
Regards 12Voltking,i'll list as i've got H/U wired at the moment, without listing speaker wires as that's no prob, also it's working no problems but i suppose i'm stuck with the electric aerial staying up when i turn on h/u and staying up when i play a cd?

    Headunit__________________________________________ _Vt Loom

    +12V Accesories - Red______________________________Accesories - Yellow

    +12V Back Up - Yellow______________________________Constant -Mines *Orange/Black

    Dimmer - Purple____________________________________Illumina tion -Brown/White

    Earth - Black______________________________________Earth - Black/White

    Antenna On - Blue__________________________________12V OUTPUT - Yellow/Red

Radio mute n/a no provision....,antenna up/down n/a i don't have on h/u or my loom.....,illumination output n/a no provision as theres only 1 illumination wire on h/u.......Also my brake wire on h/u,it's split into two,i know one goes to handbrake, but the other,do you just ground or earth this wire?I have just grounded this wire for the time being until everythings in place..

12Voltking if theres a problem you can see with the way i have it wired at moment please let me know, your wisdom would be muchos gratos

The only wire on the car side that switches off is the interior light, doubtfull that could have been used, more likely the unit is faulty.

Wiring is made simpler by getting a ready made plug setup, the colour codes are accurate, at least the VS I put a Kenwood + stacker into was, the ready made plug makes it heaps simpler, that aside one would think a Eurovox "should" just have the female socket on the rear ready for the car's stock male plug.

both brake wires should be going to the handbrake. Other then that I don't really for see any issues so I don't know why the HU is switching off.

My first thing to try would be to not use the cars earth wire. Find a more suitable earth point... (hint: the chassis of the cd player)

After a re-read, Tthe dimmer and antenna don't really need to be connected, having +ve acc power going back into the HU may be overloading it and shutting it off, from what I figure the antenna unit draws power from the HU wire not the other way round, it's possibly the fault.
Remove those and have another go.

Regards to 12Voltking,my last couple of responses i said the h/u was now working and posted up how i had wired it...and gathering from your response you see no problem with the way it's wired,thanks...Anyhow,is there anyway i can stop the electric aerial coming up when a cd/dvd is on or is that a minor annoyance i have to put up with?
    Cheers
