    Default Handbrake Wire

    Hey all just put my dvd player in, now i need to find out where the handbrake wire is to connet it to the unit. i foud a brown/white wire near the handbrake but that doesnt seem to work. i have a vu ute

    i take it you mean the wire that lights up the handbrake warning light? sure you didnt have the ignition on at the time?

    just earth it dude.. its only there to make sure the unit only opperates when the handbrake is on. if you just earth it, the unit will think the handbrake is on all the time and you can drive around watching dvd's forever thats how i got around it in the past. just make sure if youre gettin pulled over by the boys in blue, to turn the unit off before they can see it was on. they may not like the idea of watchn a movie and driving LOL

    Finished the install today and used a switch so i can have the dvds going then turn it off when i get pulled up... and YES me and my mates have been fined before because it wasnt hooked to the handbrake!

    ah good stuff mitch, that's the other way, with a switch.

    by earth it do you mean just use a small ring terminal and screw it to the floor somewhere? no-one in darwin will wire them up so they work full time

    There will be a wire that has handbrake on the tag this just get connected to a earth pionton the car like a bolt head

    Unless your ignition is on the hand brake wire will not trigger the screen to turn on.
    Right click save as . .
