Alright, I have NO clue when it comes to car audio... Need to be told what amp I need to suit:
Right now I have:
Kenwood headunit with cd/mp3 and rca out etc.
6" Pioneer dual cones in the front doors
6x9" MTX in the parcel tray
Installed it myself, mostly guess work... But it does work lol.
Anyways, I need to add an amp and a sub - But I have no idea what will be the best value for $$ and what will suit what I already have.
Please someone tell me like what spec amp I should get to power a 12" Pioneer sub and integrate with my existing gear..
Cheers - Ray.
For a decent amp at a good price , check out ya local jaycar store. Depending on the power rating of ya sub, a 2x150WRMS or even a 2x80WRMS would run it. (referring to jaycar amps but other brands will have similar power ratings). Jaycar also have D-class amps which are better suited for subs, but they are worth a little more, although still at a very reasonable price.
If you are just having the sub in a box in the boot, its easy to install. just run ya rca from ya HU down one side (under the kick strips is the easiest way) of the car and into the boot. Run the amp power lead down the other. hook them up to the sub and away you go.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people
well if i got that system i would take the pioneer front speakers back and get a set of 3 way fornts or even a set of splits and for the sub and amp, how much do you want to spend and looking at your avatar i guess you listen to rock/metal?
I'd get a 2x150W Jaycar amp for a Pioneer TS-W306C... You don't want to overdrive a smaller amp.
I got a 4 channel Sony amp real cheap.
Installed it all today, it's going well... The sub pumps, but it vibrates my number plate badly!
