The simple thing would just be to check that you are using the correct wire from the wiring harness

The correct handbrake wire for the JVC is LIGHT GREEN -- the GREEN lead with the brown slashs around it is your HANDBRAKE LEAD -- which you can just earth to give you a signal..... some application on the HANDBRAKE trigger it will cause that signal.... though on a COMMODE it would be more likely that you are putting it to the + side of the switch and it should be on the - side......

Fix it to a good earth first before splicing in , as it may be the splice as well not making the jumper correctly

THOUGHS SPLICERS should all be throwen in the BIN!!!!!... I would say this is your PROBLEM>>>>>

.....do you have the BROWN LEAD SPLICED IN ???? as it is the Phone Mute lead

i used the correct wire the green one and I spliced it to the brown and white one which was connected to here on the handbrake and followed through to where i put the splice in the pic above

I think you are right with what you said ^^ there is only the one wire on the handbrake which is obviously a + i was thinking shouldn't there be two but the - is ovbviously elsewhere behind the dash I was connecting to the + so i would need an earth to come off it as well wouldn't I ? it makes sense now i'll try it in the morning

Can Iask a question and I'm quessing it is wrong otherwise somebody else would've already picked it up.....but did you find that wire inside that yellow tubing? Because to me...that yellow tubing looks a lot SRS AIRBAG wiring.
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!

    Righty OH!!

The brown wire is a + when you have the handbrake engaged it makes contact with the negative (the body) as the metal contact is bolted to the body creating an EARTH!! --- hence causing a circuit.

if you splice the light green wire to the brown you will be running a positive to the green wire hence it will not work

My solution would be just find a good earth and connect it to that... even a "O" crimp and screw it to the body etc.

Though not legal... you are not going to watch the DVD while driving are you!!!!
