    Default VY Commodore Stereo

I have a VY S2 Exec and was looking to upgrade the stereo in it over the xmas holidays. I was thinking along the lines of a pioneer 6850mp head unit (jb hifi have it for $399) and alpine mrd 1005 amp($620) from ebay for starters with my sony 12" 380w rms subs from old stereo. Next i was going to upgrade the subs to 2 12" alpine type r subs and also a 4 channel amp and some components later on. Any suggestions/comments/hints/tips? Thanks

Any one got/heard any of this equipment?

refer there: completed aftermarket head deck install
any questions PM me, will be glad to help.
That headdeck is pretty good i was gonna get that one but then changed when i realised alpine have a direct cable link to my ipod - pioneers dont you need to buy some extra control interface thing or some shit. The alpine amp is an alright price, they're good amp. dunno about the sony subs never really used sony heard the type r subs they are also very good

I've used Ebay stores for pioneer stuff.
Never had any dramas, Might be worth trying the factory outlet forum on this site for a quote too.

I would look at going down a different route than the Type"R" SUBs from ALPINE ... personally there are a lot better subs for the money.

Poineer, Rockford Fosgate (would be my choose) Infinity etc

you can not go wrong with the DEH-P6580MP - they are $419.00 (DELIVERED)for the Australian Model - the Asia Model which is the same is about $40.00 cheaper than that - though not backed by Pioneer Australia --- I have no IDEA how JB make any money at the moment as they are not even making 5% as our buy price is better than theres!!!! WHO KNOWS!!!

Also be WARNED about EBAY --- especially this time of YEAR as all major manufacturers are letting their warranty claim Products go... e.g. refurbished products..... though EBAY SELLERS are selling as NEW!!

We have seen a lot of product come in for repairs (PRODUCT THAT PEOPLE HAVE BROUGHT OFF OF EBAY --- NOT OUR SOLD GEAR!!!)

and having made a few enquiries it has all been 30 day limited warranty or no warranty - REFURBISHED CRAP!!

    SO BE WARNED!!!!!!!!

PS the 30days is if you send it back to the USA!@!!!

As for value for money on an amp you can not go wrong with the Scosche EFX HD5001 as we have a super special on them at the moment,

Bang for buck would be the Rockford Fosgate Range.

As for Sub, Pioneer, Rockford, infinity if you want the best SQ or again the EFX / Scocshe Range.

For the Same Value as the Typr"R"

    Pioneer TS-SW1241D
    RF P212D4 or Two P112S4

    We do stock the SWR-1242D

    Infinity K120.3SE

We can do a KPER12.1 for $329.00 which is great value as it is KAPPA PERFECT

That is the best price before Xmas.

I would say a P325.2 Bridged down to 1 ohms which will give you 1084RMS

More than enough, or just leave it at 4 ohms and one per channel

    ROCKFORD is the Amp...

Personally I think that you would be better off with the P212D4 from rf as your sub as they are 10 times the sub over the "R" type

Freight for two subs and the amp would be $50.00 though will check

    One RF T212D4 and a T10001BD wired to 1ohm

Or Infinity 12VQ Kappa Perfect beautiful sound quality

But for PUNCH it is hard to best the RF on price, RMS (2000RMS) and SQ

Would just one sub sound ok? Isnt the sub 1000w RMS? And isnt the sub dvc 4 ohm so you cant get 1-ohm?

Sorry my mistake that should have been one DVC 4 ohm sub at 2ohms

Don't be confused about dual voice coil (DVC) subs — having two voice coils simply gives you more ways to hook them up. In addition to wiring flexibility, the advantages of using one dual voice coil sub are power handling (most dual voice coil subs are built for heavy-duty use) and compactness.

This is a perfect situation for a mono sub amp. Why? Mono amps are built to provide the most power at lower impedances, typically around 2 ohms. By wiring the voice coils in parallel, we can present a 2-ohm impedance to the amp and get maximum power output. Check the diagram below for how to hook it up.

Though the T212D4 would be suited to the T10001bd at 4 ohms
