my new head unit
Hey all,
just picked up a new head unit for my car (nice xmas present from the gf). I got an Eclipse CD5000 as I wanted something a bit different (ie no pioneer).
Every store i went to tried to push the pioneer dehp6850 and while it is a fair decent h/u, im not into the bling factor and everyone has them.
The main things that drew me to the ecplise were: 7 band eq, 8v pre outs (probably overkill but meh), 24 bit dac and apparently a sound quality that cant be matched for the price. We'll soon see when its in the car.
Anyone else have any experience using eclipse gear?

no, i wish i was running an eclipse deck tho.... except the next model up from thati think tis the one with the colour gps navigation built into it
ya this one can apparently do it but in black and white. Both of the decks need an external unit that probably costs about $200 extra for live gps style navigation. Maybe if i can find one cheap on ebay....

Every Camry and Most upper models Toyota have Eclipse so.. I guess every man and there dog has one as well
Eclipse is 30% owned by Toyota... I guess that is why TOYOTA have been trying to put Pioneer into there Camry's for the last three years..

you forgot mitsubishi lancers, they have eclipse cd players too!
that being said new outlanders and pajeros have rockford fosgate systems.
However i feel that stock units are an entirely different kettle of fish
i got simmilar model in my sisters car, very happy with the sound quality and the screen looks killer at night

the OEM are based on alot of the current models... just a little different with the harness etc.
Each of the major companies have there own OEM departments.
They are a nice unit....enjoy!

i cant believe how much of a difference a decent quality head unit makes!
granted i have a deh1650 in there normally
unfortunately it cant stay in the vk
something about it being one of the most stolen cars in australia and the head unit being worth more than the car....
