In the New Year I say that we organise to get some of the JAYCAR Crap--- sorry STUFF and do actual tests with it again the major brands

Jaycar 6.5" verse Pioneer , Alpine, EFX, RockFord and INFINITY - of the same RRP$ and see what the results are

Including the AMPS... SUBS etc

Who would like to volunteer to do the TESTING to... plus to what SPECS etc.

Any Suggestions....

as your aware ive gone down the path of recommending jaycar based upon the weight of support in the price category from men whose opinions i have come to respect. Leaving beefs with CAA aside, there are seasoned car audio buffs on that forum recommending jaycar at the bottom of the price scale, and their latest series amps have won awards (everyone tends to forget their amps of a couple years ago had serious problems)

No-one is suggesting jaycar is top notch - but you gotta remember most requests on this forum are done on shoestring budgets: Not necessarily tightarses but budget conscious

Id like to see an amp comparison against anything in the same RRP price bracket, and up to 1.5x the jaycar as that figure is often mentioned as the point required to start stepping up from the Jay.

Speakers - if your buying jaycars/$100 co ax i doubt you care anyway. Speakers are a personal preference so you'll never get more then a vague general consensus.

Its a shame im in melb cause im very interested to see how this goes. Or you could ship me down a few amps and ill let you know . I guess then ill have to buy a jaycar...

dont get us wrong... Jaycar is a good product ... but like everything you get what you pay for.

Plus there seem to be alot of SHEEPING --- one sheep jumps they all do!!!

I know from our own testing in car that Jaycar perform well, though for the money there are BETTER or MORE OPTIONS than just JAYCAR 6.5" Components.


For the Purpose of theses TEST we would like to GET A INDEPENDANT as we can get... hence no-one can acuse us as BOIS!


Jaycar do, do good AMP --- NOW!! ....though they are limited to how they can be wired, TRUE POWER OUTPUT.. etc

When you compare them up against the RF for the Same RRP$$ the RF leaves them for DEAD!!

So for the purpose of this exercise it will all be based on RRP$$ and yes would like to see how they go against competitors upto X 1.5 then RRP$

We have access to independant Testing Here though we really wished to make it as appearing as UNBOIS as POSSIBLE!

We can ship all the other components amps, sub and splits to someone if they can do the testing and provide some sort of security information etc.

Hmm....I seem to remember it was already by Hot4s. They did a shoot out on speakers and amps. The Jaycar products that were tested were the 6.5" Components, 6x9s, 2x100, 4x50, 12" and 15" and there was something else.

But seriously...let it go CAFO. You will be fighting an uphill battle on any car forum when it comes to references about Jaycar. No-one is claiming them to be Incredible speakers just that bang for buck they're hard to beat. How do you intend to compare speakers? By what sounds good to the "independant testers" ears?

My wife personally thinks my Nakamichi speakers sound like butt and that her Macintosh speakers dump big do-do all over them. Where as I'm the other way around. They're both great units buts it personal taste. I even say that about the amps. She once wiped out her Mac amp by trying to fiddle around with the settings (earth to speaker terminal not always greatest idea) So whilst I was repairing it I threw in my Naka two channel. Changed the sound completly and made every thing sound like butt.

Personal taste on sound quality.

With all due respect I seriously doubt anyone with jaycar gear is going to participate in this experiment. If someone can only afford jaycar and not the decent stuff I seriously doubt they can afford for their speakers to be someones guinea pig.
