Question Best Value 6" Speakers for front doors?

    Hi All,

Can someone recommend what they believe would be the ideal choice for 6" Speakers running off my Kenwood head unit. I have VS Berlina (6 speaker system) and would like to improve the bass from the front doors if possible.

    Cheers

Depends what you are chasing I would go to a 6.5" as you will have more options.

Depends on what sound quality you like, how much you are willing to spend.. etc.

For bass I would suggest a good set of componenets.

You might wanna consider an amp too depending on what you wanna spend, cause amping speakers makes a big difference for obvious reasons. Value? depends on your expectations... If your happy with cheap, theres no value in spending big... But if you want more, value speakers could be $$$.

But depending on budget i'd look at MBQ, Boston, and dare i say it CAFO but type R alpine are pretty bassy... up to your ears though mate. And mid bass will be improved markedly by deadening and sealing your doors.

Ok then. I didn't realise that I needed a amp to run splits. You live & learn they say.

I might go for the Jaycar 6.5" splits with a 2 way amp then.

Thats a myth! You don't need an amp to run splits! Simply wire the X-over up from the headunit and away she goes! Mind you, splits as well as ANY other speaker always goes well when amplified.

How much did you want to spend?
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!

A change of front speakers won't bring much of an improvemnt in low fq's. Speakers around the 6'' mark are designed to produce middbass, midrange, and high. Expecting them to produce low fq's well, will hinder their power handling, and their ability to play loud without distortion.

To get the most out of any component set, it's best they are run on a high pass filter anyway, which again limits their bass duties, allowing them to concentrate on the upper fq range in which they do best.

You don't have a 6 speaker setup, you have 4 speakers. 2 way coaxials in the rear shelf, and a 2 way compoent system up front. Holden have always labelled the tweeters themselves as being a seperate set of speakers.

If your considering buying an amp, but are most concerned about improving the bass, then i would look at a cheap sub package, and simply run the fronts and rears off the head unit's built in high pass.

EDIT. Talk about a thread dig, this one was 4 yrs old....I didn't realise it's original date as it was at the top of the list

    Hey mate,
My friend put 2 set of Clarion splits (6.5") he got from Autobarn and they sound really good. Plenty of bass and really crisp sound. He got em for about $120 (about 3 weeks ago). Hes just running them off his stock headunit with no amp (amp is going in soon though).

These have decent bass for a cheapie. Won't be deep like a sub, but it'll definately be a step in the right direction
